Nikki Bonilla shot a 3-over 39 on the front 9 at Hulman Links to lead the girls to a victory over Linton-Stockton High School Thursday evening. Bonilla flirted with her personal best round of 38 throughout the evening, being only 2 over after 7 holes when she hit a long par putt. Nikki found the sand on her 8th hole and ended up with a bogey putting her at the 3-over mark heading into her final hole where she narrowly missed a birdie putt to card her total of 39.
Bonilla was followed by freshman Rylee Roscoe, as she has been all year, who also had a fine round going – being only 2 over after 5 holes before running into a little trouble on the last few holes and shooting a solid 43. Roscoe’s short game and putting were strong all evening keeping her in contention for medalist honors until just the last few holes.
The leading pair was followed by a group of Karson Hart, Celine Park, and Emma Lubbehusen who shot 49, 50, and 51 respectively.
Coach Treash said of the trio, “It was nice to see Karson get her scores back down a little bit , Celine has become very consistent and you can tell she’s improving when the same score she was happy about 3 weeks ago is a disappointment to her today. Emma had a rough start on the first 2 holes and then played as well as almost anyone on the course the last 7 – with a good start she can score as well as anyone for us.”
The girls play next on Monday in the Conference Indiana Tournament at Timbergate Golf Club in Edinburgh, Indiana.
